My memories of Kim

Burger King on 17th St. with the funky indoor playground smell. Teaching at Tot Lot. Starbucks Hot Chocolate and Carmel Apple Spice and long conversations by car or on the couch. Late Night dates at Norms. Camping in San Barbara at El Capitan our two huge tents and ten kids was quite the site to see. Going to see Tom Petty in concert w/ Rob and Evan, Rob surprised Kim with the camera she wanted for her birthday! Bithday Parties and Dinners. Countless Beach days and park days. My favorite time at the park was when the helicopter landed in the middle of the field to airlift a hiker out of the canyon. I don't know who thought it was cooler the adults or the kids. Blessings, Baptisms, texting during church when something funny was said. Our Pregnancies and birth of our babies, I loved watching the kids while Kim was in labor. I am especially thankful for the memories we made this past month we were able to get together on two different occassions which isn't always easy since her move to Palmdale. We had so much fun meeting at the "Tot Lot" Park and timing each other and the kids while running (literally) to the fence. I will always treasure the girl's night we had with Savannah, Chloe, Aubree, Emilee, Kim and I. We went to Cafe Rio for dinner, B.J.'s for a Giant Pizookie, took the girls for a walk on the pier and than Kim and I just sat talked and laughed while the girls played on the playground in the sand. It was cold but this particular memory will forever hold a special place in my heart.
I really can't think of any major event in my life without Kim being in it, whether by phone or person she was always in every aspect of my life. Kim and I were like sisters she was the best friend ever. She was such an amazing example of a mother, wife, friend and person. I trusted her with my entire being and will miss her more than words can say.

Ashton's 8th Grade Promotion

This promotion hit me harder than I had expected. There is something about watching your oldest child promote out of middle school to go to HIGH SCHOOL! It is amazing and terrifying at the same time. I really can't believe how fast the years have gone by and it really hit home for me this year. I am so proud of my oldest son and all that he has accomplished so far in his life:) I am officially a mother of a Freshman in High School...yikes!

Emilee also did a Lip Sync this year, it was her last year being able to participate since she has promoted up to Jr. High. Her group did a medley of "Alice In Wonderland" songs. A few of my friends joked that we were putting on a "mini broadway production" ;) Well it was definatly worth it their group was the grand finale of the show and they were amazing to watch!

Every year our school does a Lip Sync at the end of the year. It is such a fun tradition. This year Ethan was in an all boy group and they did a Run DMC mix combined of two songs, "You be Illin" and "It's Tricky". The boys all did a great job and had so much fun performing.

Aquarium of the Pacific

At the end of the school year Tot Lot does an end of year field trip. This year we went to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. Aubree was so happy to go with her friends and her cousins. Ellie had so much fun looking at all the different sea creatures.

Mother's Day 2010

We decided to make a weekend out of Mother's Day. We had the opportunity to go to Indio with some close family friends and stay at their time share. Can I say heaven!!!! It was such a much needed rejuvenation for our family. We had so much fun playing in the pool, enjoying the lazy river, playing games, and watching movies:) Aubree and Ellie had so much fun playing in the 1 foot kids pool and the water was so nice like a big bath.
On Sunday Evan was so great he got up and made pancakes with the kids. He had them make homemade cards and best of all I got to sleep in...nice!We just really took time together as a family it was really special, I couldn't have asked for a better Mother's Day. I am so thankful for these special moments that turn into such great memories.

St. Patrick's Day at Tot Lot!

Those mischievous Leprechauns came to Tot Lot today while I was teaching, the kids had so much fun searching for the Leprechauns. We finally found some footprints and shamrocks leading into our classroom where we found quite a mess waiting for us. At least the Leprechauns left the kids some Lucky Charms and green milk for a treat:)

We had such a busy but fun St. Patrick's Day. We had green milk and Lucky Charms for breakfast it is our tradition.Some friends of our family's invited us over for a St. Patrick's Day dinner. It was so yummy and best of all I didn't have to cook any of it:) We had the traditional corn beef, cabbage on the side (yucky), mashed potatoes, boiled potatoes, gravy, Shepard's Pie, Irish soda bread,and Boston Cream Pie. There were green decorations, accessories, and goody bags filled w/ Lucky Charms and mini 100 grand bars so cute! We had a great time and it was so fun to celebrate a fun little holiday!

Emilee had to do a Science Fair Project for school. She chose to do the Sublimation of Dry Ice. Evan and her had so much fun working on this project together. I am happy to say Emilee earned an A+ on her project! Good Job :)

Aubree had a great 4th Birthday. She loves her birthday and talks about the event for months before. She was able to have both a family celebration and a friend celebration. For her friend celebration she had a cupcake party it was really fun and the girls were really cute.

We had a family party for Ellie on Halloween. Everyone had fun eating the Halloween themed food. Ellie was really the perfect birthday girl! She dug into her cake and made for some great photos! She loved her presents and just really enjoyed having the family around her:) When we were done w/ the festivities we took the kids trick or treating it was a really fun night!

Our sweet little Ellie is "1" years old today! She is really the sweetest little baby and has been such a joy to our family. I admit I am a little sad that we have already reached this milestone but couldn't imagine our family without her!
Some of Ellie's milestones: Crawling all over the place, standing on her own, she has taken a step or two but not walking yet, she waves hi and bye, so far her vocabulary consists of hi, mama, and dada and she loves food!!!!

Evan's actual birthday fell on a Sunday this year so we went to Disneyland to get his "free money card" and decided to go into California Adventure to see what they did for Halloween. We got some fun pics of us and it made for a special day for Evan.

My sister was kind enough to watch all of my kids so Evan and I could go out for his Birthday. We decided to go to Disneyland and have dinner and watch the Halloween Fireworks. The desserts we got were so yummy mine which was the pumpkin one was a pumpkin nut cake w/ a pumpkin carmel mousse topping. Evan's which was the Jack one was three red velvet lady fingers dipped in choclate w/ a raspberry sauce so yummy. We than waited for the fireworks right up in the front of the castle it was sooooo cool and enjoyed the show! It was so nice to just spend the evening with Evan:)

Quite A Scare!

Well we had quite the scare on Sunday night with our sweet little Ellie. The kids were playing the game Manacala which is a game that uses glass half marble pieces. Well you might be able to see where I am going with this.....anyways the older kids didn't put it away so Aubree decided she was going to play and left it on the ground. Along comes little Miss Ellie and she decided to eat the marbles. Evan and I both saw her and I took them out of her hands and we got one out of her mouth and thought okay, disaster averted...WRONG! All of a sudden Ellie started choking and I mean I had to put her head down, abdomen over my knee and do back blows on her. The marble was already to far down and luckily she was able to get it down, she was still having a hard time getting it all the way down so we took her to Choc Emergency Room. Once there Ellie got her first X-ray and the technician said "Yep, there is a marble in her stomach. Looks like you are going to have fun digging."(Pleasant image, I know) The Doctor came in and said since the marble had made it down to her stomach everything should be fine and it should come out in a few days. He also explained that I would have to look through her mess to find it...OH the JOYS of MOTHERHOOD! I am very thankful that she is going to be okay. The hospital was great we were in and out of there in an hour and you all know how amazing that is for an emergency room. Below are a few pics of Ellie waiting for the Doctor.

Our sweet baby Ellie is 10 months old today! She is getting so big and I have loved every minute with this precious girl. She still only has one tooth but she has more that our trying to break through (nice for nursing). She can wave, stand for a second before collapsing, crawls, climbs and loves to eat food!! She is really so much fun to be around and is constantly watching all of us and absorbing our actions. Here is my attempt at getting a picture of her:)

Well awhile ago my friend turned me onto this site called houseparty.com where you sign up to be a host for certain types of parties and if you are chosen they will send you party packs free. We were chosen to do the Wizards of Waverly Place movie premiere party (a show on disney channel) they sent us a themed party pack which included a c.d. , poster, leis, gifts for each guest, and fun games. Since the movie took place in the Carribean the party was themed around that, the girls came over for dinner, games and of course the movie.

A new home for Tot Lot!!!!

I have been involved in a co-op preschool (Tot Lot) with all of my kids and have enjoyed being a part of their preschool. After a long wait we finally got our new building at the park which will be Tot Lot's new home! Here are before and after pictures.

I can't believe another year of school has started for us, the summer just flew by!! Ashton is starting 8th grade this year. Emilee is starting 6th grade. Ethan is starting 4th grade. So far everyone is really happy with their teachers and school in general, we will see how long that lasts:)

Every year our stake celebrates Pioneer Day by having food, live entertainment, and fun booths for the kids to visit. My kids really enjoyed riding the horses, having their face painted, making a corn husk dolls and enjoying a stick biscuit.

I did the OC mudrun this past Saturday with my friend. It was a 5k run through muddy obstacles. I was really nervous about this event but had a great time!

Ashton's 13th Birthday at the Park

Ashton wanted to go to the beach for his birthday and have a bonfire. Evan and Ashton set out the morning of his birthday and couldn't find a fire ring from Corona del Mar clear up to Sunset Beach. They came home and we decided to go up to the park and have dinner, hike and play games. It turned out to be great fun and Ashton was just happy to have family and friends around him.

Summer Camping trip!

We were able to go camping up in Santa Barbara in El Capitan w/ the Beck family. It was beautiful and so much fun. Ellie was such a good baby and all the kids really enjoyed themselves.The campsite was so beautiful and overlooked the ocean. Every night the sound of waves crashing lulled us into sleep it was wonderful. We also went to Solvang, visited a mission, and went to the farmers market.

In 5th grade at our school the girls get to go to a tea w/ their moms. It is a really nice evening and the school nurse comes and does a presentation for the girls. She talks about the upcoming changes that will occur in the girls life in a sweet informative way that isn't embarrassing to the girls. It felt a little surreal to be sitting there w/ my daughter!!!!

When Ellie had her 6 month check up they measured her head and it measured big. Well I have always had big headed kids so this comes as no surprise to me but the doctor said better to be safe than sorry. He ordered a ultrasound of Ellie's head to make sure that it really was just a big head or as I like to say "big brains." Later that day he called to confirm Ellie just has a big head!

I haven't been very good at updating my blog w/ important milestones for Ellie lately so I will just recap Ellie's 6 month of life for you. She now weighs 15lbs. and is 24 and a half inches long.
She loves to eat and growls for more if I am not getting it to her mouth fast enough!! My mother in law bought a baby food grinder and we love it I can just grind up whatever we eat or some veggies and Ellie doesn't seem to care as long as the food goes into her mouth:)
Ellie just this past weekend has really started scooting and getting somewhere. Now when she sets her sights on something (mostly me) she can get there pretty quickly...not sure how I feel about this yet, lol!
We love her so much and it is so fun to see her little personality coming out more.

California Adventure

Last Friday night we went to Disney California Adventure w/ my sister and her kids and the Gardner Family. The kids had a lot of fun. We did a lot of 3D attractions Bugs Life 3D show, Muppet 3D show, and the Toy Story ride, we were all seeing double by the end of the night.

I don't have a lot of pictures on my camera from Mother's Day but I had a wonderful day. My mother in law did flowers for the church so the whole house smelled beautiful. Evan got all the kids ready for church and taught my class so I could go to Relief Society. All the family came over for a yummy dinner and it was really relaxing and enjoyable:) I love my family!

We decided to go down to Corona del Mar State beach and have a bonfire one night. We had hotdogs, chips and of course smores. The kids had a blast playing in the sand and cooking over the fire. It was such a great night we have decided to try and do it a couple times a month anyone is welcome to join us:)

We have been trying to keep the kids busy during the break by doing fun and super inexpensive activities. We went to this really fun park in Tustin on Wednesday and had a picnic lunch. The kids had a blast and played for over three hours.

Emilee is now 11 years old! I can't believe that 11 years ago our first sweet baby girl was born and now she is almost a teenager.We have a tradition that every birthday we make a banner to celebrate the special birthday we also hang up streamers. We decided to go to Disneyland for Emilee's birthday we were a little nervous about how crowded it would be since it was a Friday and the start of OUSD Spring Break. It was a really great day not crowded at all and very enjoyable. Emilee got her "fun card" from Disneyland since it was her birthday and she was able to buy some fun souvenirs.

Ellie is now 5 months old and she has such a great personality. She does many tricks and has the nickname "drooling dinosaur". She growls all the time and is constantly drooling so my brother in law says "Hey she sounds like a dinosaur and she drools a lot." Ellie is rolling over, grabbing everything in sight, and starting to scoot although not in the direction of choice! We love everything about our sweet baby girl and enjoy everyday with her.

Astro Camp!

Emilee was able to go to Astro Camp w/ her school, it is a science camp up in the mountains. They left on a Friday and came back on Sunday. It was her first time away from us for that many nights. She was so sweet she told one of the moms that she was going to miss her sisters, so sweet! Emilee had a blast and came back w/ lots of fun information. In the pictures below you will notice that a lot of the kids are dressed alike it was twin day at school for Spirit Day.

Ellie's 4 month check up

We went to the doctor on Wednesday for Ellie's 4 month check up. She is 12lbs 15oz. and is 24 inches long she is in the 50th percentile for both height and weight and her head size is in the 25% (most of my kids head measure in the 90th percentile, lol). She is getting so big and her personality is really starting to show. We love to watch her learn new things and she is the family "baby". She is starting to roll over and is grabbing everything in sight which immediatly goes into her mouth. Here are some pictures we took recently:)

The day before my mom left we went to Disneyland (all day trip). We had so much fun we met my Aunt Sue and cousin Diana w/ her two kids (who just happened to be going on the same day as us) for lunch which was fun. Evan came and met us later that night after he got off of work. We really enjoyed spending the day as a family and we tried not to let the fact that it was my mom's last day bring us down.

Snow White ride....

So Aubree has been totally into Snow White lately. So when we went to Disneyland w/ my mom she wanted to go on the Snow White ride. For those of you who haven't been on this ride it is a little intense for kids (even some adults). Evan and I always say we don't know why Disney has to focus on all the dark parts of the movies in some of their rides. Anyways I thought these pics were hysterical when I saw them and had to post them.

If you look carefully at the pics you can see Aubree is holding her Snow White barbie that her grandma gave her. (That has been going everywhere w/ us)

My moms first time seeing Ellie

My mom had never seen Ellie before so she had so much fun getting to know her newest granddaughter. Ellie just loved her it makes me sad to think that the next time my mom sees her she will be a totally different baby:( At least we have a lot of family here that we get to see all the time:)

Grandma Joannie comes to visit

My kids were so excited for my mom to come and visit they couldn't wait until she was here. She came for about ten days which wasn't long enough for me or the kids but we will take what we get. We did some fun activities while she was here.

Disneyland "Mom" Trip

Today was the Pass holder preview of the Grand Re-Opening of It's a Small World. We thought it would be fun to all get together and go as a group. The ride was great I loved how they Incorporated the Disney characters appropriately into the ride. The kids were all so well behaved and had a great time w/ their friends (so did the moms). We went on a few more rides, had lunch and almost missed the rain before it started. I think most of us made it to our cars before it really started coming down. I really had a good time and enjoyed my day w/ the girls.

Ellie June's Blessing Day

On Sunday December 28, 2008 we were able to bless our fifth baby she was named for her Great Grandmother Donna June Andrew. Unfortunatly Aubree got really sick the night before the blessing so we had to do the blessing and leave quickly. We were fortunate though in that everyone we wanted in the circle was able to be there and almost all of our families were there. I hope you enjoy the pictures below in both posts.

We had a wonderful Christmas holiday with all the family coming. The kids enjoyed playing w/ their cousins and of course their Christmas gifts.

Tot Lot Christmas Party

Aubree was so excited for the Tot Lot Christmas Party she couldn't wait to see Santa. Well the idea of Santa and the reality of Santa are two entirely different things in Aubree's book. She wanted nothing to do w/ him once she saw Santa aka her dad (yes Evan revisited his role again after a few years off). I thought for sure she would feel some sort of connection...NO she wouldn't get anywhere near him w/out me. She was very happy to wave to him from the comfort of my arms.

Family pictures this year were a little stressful. We started out going to a photo studio in which we walked out after 10 minutes on account that Aubree was rolling all over the floor crying. Since I had just spent the last two hours prior to our sitting time getting everyone ready, I wasn't going to let my efforts go to waste. So we ran home grabbed the camera, blanket and my father in law. We headed to the park and started snapping pictures here is just a sampling of what we went through to get a couple good pics. My father in law just kept snapping away he said he figured eventually he'd have to get one good one and w/ our crew that was definatly a miracle.
